THE VISION
Universal Peace Wheel
The Universal Peace Wheel project recognizes that our community is made up of people who, in spite of differences in culture, economic spheres, spiritual persuasions, and philosophies, can come together to move our community and the world toward a more peaceful and just existence. The intention of the Universal Peace Wheels is to unite diverse groups in our community around a common vision of a world our hearts know is possible – one made up of just and peaceful communities. A bonus for such communities is that societies comprising peaceful, compassionate, and connected people move toward becoming healthy and happy.
"The concept of Peace Wheel focalizes or crystalizes prayers and intention toward a endpoint of universal peace. In the same manner that ocean waves and waterfalls purify water - and wind and smudging purify the air, it is believed that prayers-in-motion magnify our aspirations of planetary peace. Peace Wheels invite shared participation, with sincere hope that prayers potentized by spinning will ripple widely in a manner that touches every family, community, city, and nation."
Sacred Knowledge & Symbolism
Prayer Wheels are cylinders on a spindle that revolve around a central axis, containing tightly wound scrolls printed with thousands upon millions of prayers and mantras. Widely accepted in Tibetan Buddhist traditions, it is held that the act of spinning Prayer Wheels multiples the potency of the mantras and releases the prayers to the wind and universe. As such, a Prayer Wheel represents both a noun – a colorful spindle containing prayers, as well as an action word or verb that combines intention with movement toward a common goal of tranquility, compassion, and spiritual maturity.

Join the movement: Every individual is invited to take part. Only a receptive spirit is required. Construction is progressing with focus toward a celebration on the Summer Solstice, followed by regular meetings for international unity.
This site serves as a vital landmark on the Rotary Peace Trail and functions as a central anchor for the Ashland Peace Zone.
2027 Vision: A Monument for Peace
Southern Oregon Pachamama Alliance (SOPA) has set as a goal raising money to erect several Peace Wheels in Ashland, as a means of uniting diverse groups around a common vision of peace, humility and compassion. In support and alignment with SOPA, Health Research Institute (HRI) has shared its intention of erecting a Peace Wheel on the WellSprings campus. Dedicated to health and wellbeing, HRI recognizes that Total Human Potential can be achieved – personally and universally – only when man/woman lives in balance and harmony with him/herself, neighbors and community, and Nature. In spinning Peace Wheels with purpose and intention, in potentizing and releasing prayers for peace across the universe, it becomes a shared dream that humankind learns to activate and actualize humility, civility, and gratitude.
Join SOPA, HRI, Ashland Culture of Peace, and Rogue Valley Rotary in furthering Ashland’s goal of declaring itself a City of Peace. Volunteers and skill sets from all walks of life are invited to come together to manifest this prayer for global peace.
